Welcome to Denise Stookesberry
It is with great joy that we announce the addition of Denise Stookesberry as our Music Coordinator and Choir Director. Denise has been a choral director for over 30 years, in both school and church positions. She is a professional singer and voice instructor, an accomplished accompanist and has experience in directing both small, volunteer choirs and large auditioned choirs in addition to other music ensembles.
Denise and her husband Dave will be relocating from St. Louis to Glen Haven where they have maintained a home seasonally for the past 10 years.
ALL singers please mark your calendars and encourage all you know who may wish to join us in fellowship and song, that our first rehearsal will be Thursday, March 19th as we begin our musical journey together with Denise. Our first service will be Palm Sunday. We are truly blessed to have found such a talented and experienced director to lead us musically, spiritually and in caring fellowship.
The UMCEP Chancel Choir is made up of dedicated voices and is under the very capable direction of Denise Stookesberry,. Our gifted piano accompanist is Nancy Gunter. Our choir provides the music for all of our worship services, except the third Sunday of each month, when our Bell Choir provides the special music. The choir year begins during Lent and continues throughout the summer months. Our year is complete at the end of Advent. During January, February and March many of our congregation are involved in the worship service through their gifts of choral and instrumental music.
Our rehearsals are every Thursday evening during the choir year beginning at 7 o'clock in the Church Sanctuary. We enjoy many seasonal participants in our choir and would invite any and all who come to Estes Park in the summer months to join us as we lift our voices in the celebration of worship.
The bell choir at UMCEP is made up of 8 -11 members. We have three octaves of bells, so we can play 2 or 3 octave bell music. We also have 2 octaves of chimes for occasional variety. They are used alone or sometimes with the bells.
We play in church on the third Sunday of every month, Easter Sunday & Christmas Eve. Practice is every Monday afternoon at 5:30pm. We welcome alll who are interested in playing handbells and can attend practice on Mondays at 5:30 pm. We use a color coding system, so if you can count, you can play bells. We work hard, but have lots of laughs and fun.
